Redevelopment of Regency Mall in Racine a great opportunity for local firms

The redevelopment of Regency Mall in Racine, initiated by the Georgia-based Hull Property Group, represents a significant $120 million project that offers considerable opportunities for local construction firms. The project’s first phase involves demolishing 400,000 square feet of the historic mall to construct a 243,500-square-foot Woodman’s Food Market. Subsequent phases include the development of around 280 apartments and spaces for retail and restaurants. With an anticipated completion of the Woodman’s Market by the third quarter of 2025, and the entire project taking between five to seven years, the redevelopment effort is set to transform the area.

Racine’s local government is supporting the project with a $39.4 million tax increment district, expecting to generate $54 million over two decades. This redevelopment is not just a financial investment but also a commitment to revitalizing a key area of Racine, offering local construction businesses a chance to be involved in a project that promises to bring new life and economic activity to the community.

Damon Dorsey, President of Develop Wisconsin, emphasizes the project as a “great opportunity for business based in Racine,” highlighting the potential for growth and development in the local construction industry. This initiative marks a pivotal moment for Racine, turning a chapter on the historic mall to make way for modern, relevant development that aligns with the needs and aspirations of the 21st century.
